A District level Training on ‘‘Flood Hazard Modeling & Sediment Monitoring of Churia Originating River Systems’ has been successfully conducted in Baribas, Mahottari from 07-10 August, 2016.
The four days training was attended by 19 Officials from District Soil Conservation Offices, District Forest Offices, District Development Committees, Division Office of Department of Water Induced Disaster Management (DWIDM), People’s Embankment Project (PEP), President Churia Madhesh Terai Conservation Development Board (PCMTCDB) and District Project Officers from CFGORRP/DHM.
The training was structured to deliver the hands-on sessions about the flood hazard modeling and sediment monitoring of Churia originating river system as envisioned by the Sediment Monitoring Protocols. During the practical sessions, participants learned to analyze the potential flash flood, river cutting and inundation from the Churia originating river system by using the River Analysis System software. Dr. Narendra Man Shakya, Mr. Rajendra Bahadur Chettri and Dr. Govind Acharya teamed up together to facilitate the training.
