A LoA has been signed between the DHM/CFGORRP and Engineer Department, Nepal Army on 25th March, 2016, to materialize the Cabinet decision made by the Government of Nepal dated 16th February, to engage Nepal Army for Imja Lake Lowering works.

Dr. Rishi Ram Sharma, Director General/National Project Director on behalf of the DHM/CFGORRP, Er. Yogendra Bahadur Khand, Major General (Technical) on behalf of Engineer Department-Nepal Army and Mr. Renaud Meyer, Country Director UNDP have signed the Letter of Agreement amidst a special function in the presence of Mr. Vijay Kumar Mallick Secretary – Ministry of Population and Environment (MoPE) and Mr. Jaymukunda Khanal, Secretary – Ministry of Defence (MoD).

According to the LoA, the Nepal Army will be undertaking the Imja Lake lowering works through construction of an artificial drainage channel to lower the lake level by at least 3 meter, by the end of October, 2016.
