The second Project Steering Committee (PSC) meeting of the CFGORRP/DHM was held on April 03 2017, under the chair of Dr. Bishwa Nath Oli, Secretary, Ministry of Population and Environment at Shangrila Hotel, Lazimpat. The PSC meeting was attended by Ms. Sophie Kemkhadze, Deputy Country Director-UNDP Nepal, Dr. Rishi Ram Sharma, Director General & National Project Director-DHM/CFGORRP, and representatives from MoHA, MoF, MoFALD, MoFSC, MoI, MoTCA, NPC, WECS, DNPWC, DSCWM, DWIDM, UNDP and NGO Federation Nepal.
Dr. Rishi Ram Sharma welcomed the PSC members and invitees and shed light on the objective of the meeting. Mr. Top B Khatri, National Project Manager, made a detailed presentation of the project achievements and way forward.
In the meeting, CFGORRP/DHM felicitated a total of 45 individuals from different organizations for their significant contribution in realizing the successful completion of Imja Lake lowering works, including Mr. Fanindra Raj Kharel, former Director General-Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation, Mr. Bharat Lal Shrestha, T. Lieutenant Colonel- Engineer Department-Nepal Army and Dr. Dhananjaya Regmi, Managing Director-Krishna Construction.
Based on the deliberations, the steering committee decided to request MFSC/DNPWC to organize a meeting with Buffer Zone Management Committee and Sagarmatha National Park for the integration of Taskforces into BZ Institutions that will be facilitated by DNPWC. The committee advised to allocate resources for Operation & Maintenance of Early Warning System & civil infrastructures at Imja and that MoPE would coordinate with Ministry of Information & Communications, for waiver of VSAT tariff.
